    GP practices in South Somerset say a surge in demand is leading to long delays in getting to see a Doctor. Health managers say very high numbers of people are trying to book appointments at the moment and are asking for the public’s co-operation. 

    Somerset County Council is spending 6-million pounds to help rebuild the local economy. Businesses and the self-employed are being given cash handouts as the County recovers from the pandemic. Projects like the new iAero aerospace centre in Yeovil and the new business centre in Bruton are also being given funding.

    A homeless charity in Somerset is looking for volunteers to take part in a fundraising event. ARC is holding a virtual Big Sleep Out on Friday 11th June with participants doing a sponsored sleep-out. 

    A new play park has been opened in Ilminster. The facility at Ilminster recreation ground has a slide, climbing frame and soft play area and has been funded by Ilminster Town Council and South Somerset District Council.

    A big name in the world of cricket is raising funds for The World Horse Welfare Centre near Somerton. BBC cricket commentator, Jonathan Agnew, better known as Aggers, is staging an event later this month for the charity.
