From this week, 12-to-15-year-olds are being offered walk-in Covid jabs after school in South Somerset. The vaccinations are being given out at Haynes Motor Museum at Sparkford between 3 and 5 pm Monday to Friday. They are also available in schools.

The switch-on of the Christmas Lights in Yeovil will take place on the green outside St Johns Church on Friday, November 19th. The Mayor, Councillor Evie Potts-Jones will turn on the illuminations at 6 pm with music from Tom Clements and his Band starting at 5 pm. A Lantern Parade through the town centre will take place as a separate event on Friday, December 17th.

A Yeovil man has appeared in court charged with being drunk and disorderly in a public place. Sam Ridley-Brown of Glovers Court pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined £80 and costs of £85.

A dumper truck has been stolen from near Ilminster. The Thwaites four-ton swivel dumper was taken from Witney Hill at Horton between Monday and Tuesday of last week. It has a roll bar fitted and no cab. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call the Police non-emergency number 101.

Plans have been passed to build four new business units in Crewkerne. The units will be built on Blacknell Lane, opposite the town’s recycling centre.

A website has been launched for people in Somerset to play a full part in celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
