More trains are being introduced on the line between Crewkerne, Yeovil Junction and Sherborne stations to London Waterloo following an upturn in passenger numbers. Services that were cut during the COVID pandemic are being restored from December. South West Railway say ten additional trains will run on weekdays, including two extra morning services. The new timetable comes into effect from Monday, December 11th.
Four Somerset parents have been fined at Yeovil Magistrates Court for school attendance offences. They were all found guilty of not ensuring their child or children attended school regularly. One of those who appeared was a woman from Bruton who was fined £440 with costs of £120.
A South Petherton man has been found guilty of deliberately driving his car at a tent that had a woman and three children inside. Exeter Crown Court was told the incident happened on a campsite in Cornwall following an argument between Andrew Layfield and his partner who was inside the tent at the time. Layfield of South Quarry Piece Road in South Petherton denied dangerous driving but was found guilty by a jury. Layfield is due to return to court next month for sentencing. Yeovil Town has been given a home draw in the first round proper of the FA Cup following their 2-0 win in an FA Cup fourth-round qualifier against Southend.
