Police are searching sites across South Somerset in an ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a man from Yeovil. 37-year-old Michael Wheeler's car was found abandoned in the town and we're told he seems not to have had any contact with anyone since the end of August.

Two car parks at nearby Ham Hill were cordoned off on Friday and properties in Yeovil and Crewkerne are being searched. Police are appealing for anyone with information about Mr Wheeler's disappearance to contact them via the 101 number.

Engineering work will take place on some train services in our area next week as part of a project to improve connections between Somerset and Dorset. Trains south of Yeovil and Castle Cary will be most affected.

A Ditcheat cheese producer is set to create its products using greener energy if plans for a new solar farm are approved. Barber’s Cheese has been making cheddar since 1833 at its Maryland Farm premises – and Cornish-based Communities for Renewables has applied on their behalf to build a new solar facility on agricultural land to the east of the village. If approved, construction could begin in early 2025.

Yeovil Town’s community sports trust team has been attempting a Somerset version of the Three Peaks Challenge. The fifty-kilometre trek made its way up Glastonbury Tor via Dundon Beacon and finished at Huish Park, aiming to raise money for the registered charity.
