Wessex Water has issued an apology for last Friday’s major disruption to water supplies in Yeovil. The problem, caused by a burst water main, cut off supplies to hundreds of homes, closed several schools and Yeovil College and left businesses without running water. Supplies were fully restored on Saturday.

Planned reforms to stroke services at Yeovil Hospital could be delayed after asbestos was discovered in a ward used by the stroke service. NHS Somerset Integrated Care Board voted earlier this year to close Yeovil Hospital’s hyper-acute stroke unit with patients being taken to either Dorchester or Taunton for treatment. The ICB now says implementing the changes may take longer than expected due to the need to the need to remove concealed asbestos in parts of Yeovil Hospital.

A decision on building new homes and relocating Bruton's GP surgery has been pushed back for a second time, due to traffic concerns. Woolsington One Ltd put forward plans in late 2020 to build 65 new homes to the north of Brewham Road, as well as allocating land for a new doctors' surgery to replace the existing facility on Patwell Lane. Somerset Council's planning committee delayed a decision on the plans in July to allow road safety issues to be addressed. Now, a decision has been pushed back for a second time after councillors complained the revised application was not appropriate. Earlier at the same meeting, plans to build 60 new homes to the south of Brewham Road with a secondary pedestrian access being delivered via Darkey Lane.

A community coffee shop in North Curry is celebrating a milestone in its 18-year history. The village coffee shop that's run by volunteers has raised over a quarter of a million pounds for charitable causes since it opened with money being given to charities nominated by its sixty volunteers. Penny Ross is the Manager of the village shop in North Curry.

The Bird in the Hand pub in Henstridge has been put up for sale. The pub on Ash Walk that was previously two cottages and became a fully licensed public house in the 1960s is on sale with a guide price of £460,000.

Rail travellers are being warned of disruption on the West of England Line through Sherborne, Yeovil Junction and Crewkerne stations over the Christmas and New Year period. South Western Railway says major engineering works, lasting three weeks, will mean timetable changes and longer journey times to Exeter St Davids, starting Sunday, December 15th, in both directions.
