Avon & Somerset Police are appealing for witnesses after a collision in the early hours of Sunday morning between a car and a house on Long Load Road in Stapleton. The three occupants of the black Audi A4 were taken to hospital with serious injuries; two who are believed to have sustained life-changing injuries and one who is thought to have life-threatening injuries. No one in the property was harmed. If you witnessed the collision, the moments leading up to it or have doorbell, mobile or dashcam footage, you’re being urged to call the 101 number and quote reference 5225188752.

A Yeovil man spent Sunday running 31 miles for charity, starting at Ham Hill and finishing in Lyme Regis. Daniel Harding organised the run to raise money for ‘The Hub’ in Yeovil, which provides support and training for adults with learning disabilities and autism, helping them build independence and confidence.

Somerset Wildlife Trust says the national ‘Big Count’ survey has brought some positive news about the state of the country – and the county’s - natural world. The survey results included evidence that three species of snail, red foxes and the European Goldfinch are doing much better than expected.

A family feast is coming to Chard later this month as part of the Somerset Food Trail Festival. The open-air picnic celebrates local produce and will be held on Sunday, 20th July, in the afternoon at Great Mead. It will be a free event, and those wanting to take part should bring along picnic baskets containing a picnic lunch sourced from ingredients found within 30 miles of their home, whilst enjoying live music and relaxing beneath the trees.
