A Chard woman has appeared in court after driving her car towards a crowd of people who, she claimed, were causing a disturbance. Magistrates were told that Shelley Wilson of Reed Road in Chard was behind the wheel of her car when she drove it off the road towards a group of people gathered in Henson Park, causing them to run for safety. No one was injured in the incident that happened on August 4th last year. Pleading guilty to dangerous driving, Wilson was told to return to Yeovil Magistrates Court for sentencing on February 4th.
Crewkerne residents will soon be provided with a new banking hub. Crewkerne is only the 5th town in England to be given a dedicated banking hub due to local banks closing. Cash Access UK, who will run the new service, are looking for somewhere in the town centre to put the banking hub.
Work has started removing trees along the embankment of Chard Reservoir. It’s to allow for other work to strengthen and raise the retaining barrier at the reservoir. The 14 trees being taken down are described as of low ecological value.
Organisers of the Shindig Festival, held for the past 10 years in the grounds at Dillington House near Ilminster, say this year’s festival will take place at Charlton Park in Wiltshire. Co-founder, Simon Clarke, says they decided against using Dillington House because of rising costs and tighter regulations. He’s described the move to Charlton Park as the start of a new era for the Shindig Festival.
