The Met Office has issued a yellow heat warning for Somerset, effective until Sunday evening. The UK Health Security Agency is asking us to check that elderly people are not being affected by the heat, while the RSPB in Somerset is advising pet owners to take extra care of their animals.
One person was taken to hospital with injuries following a two-vehicle crash on A3088 Cartgate Link Road, close to the turn-off to Montecute. The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday. The road was closed in both directions for almost an hour.

A local man, working as a psychiatric nurse, has been jailed for 7 years for having sex with a vulnerable patient. Adam Culverwell, aged 53, who lives in Hardington, near Yeovil, was charged with eight counts of causing or inciting sexual activity with a mentally disordered person. The woman was under Culverwell's care from September 2016 to December 2020 while he was working as a community psychiatric nurse with Dorset Healthcare Trust.
A new care home in Chard is set to open in August. Gillingham Grange, located on Furnham Road and run by Oyster Care Homes, has created 60 residential, dementia, and respite care places for up to 66 elderly individuals.
