Drivers are being warned to take extra care on Somerset's roads due to problems after the heavy overnight rain, meanwhile, a flood warning remains in force for the River Isle at Ilminster. The areas at risk are the Rose Mills Industrial Estate, Hort Bridge, Station Road including Holway House Park, Railway Cuttings, Home Farm Way, including Home Farm Park, Green Lane, The Old Orchard, and Winterhay Lane, including the Manor Farm area. A flood warning is also in place from Chard Reservoir to Hambridge.

Expectant mothers in Somerset are being urged to book a flu and Covid vaccine after figures showed that only two in five pregnant women in the South West took up the offer of a flu jab last year. The UK Health Security Agency says the vaccinations reduce the risk of serious disease and lower the chance of premature birth or stillbirth.

A coffee morning to raise funds for the Christmas lights switch-on in Ilminster is being held this Saturday. It’s being held in the Market House starting at 10 am.

If you’ve got some apples that you’d like made into juice or cider then Castle Cary is the place to be this weekend. An apple pressing event is being held outside the Market House on Sunday where, for a donation to charity, you can have your apples made into something drinkable.
