    A Chard motorist has had his licence endorsed with 10 penalty points for being over the drink drive limit while parked in a layby with the engine of his vehicle running. Tristan Evans of Henson Park failed a breath test after being found by at the wheel of his vehicle in a layby at Chillington. Evans, who pleaded guilty to the offence, was also fined £47 with £40 costs at Yeovil Magistrates Court.

    St Mary and St Peter’s School in Ilton has been rated as overall ‘good’ following an Ofsted inspection. In their report, inspectors described the school as inclusive and welcoming, with a happy, calm and purposeful learning environment. 

    Crewkerne Town Council is considering illuminating the town’s famous Lucombe tree at Henhayes to help combat antisocial behaviour. LED lights working on a time-switch would be spread throughout the tree. The Council believes improving public lighting in the area around the Lucombe Oak will discourage vandalism.

    NHS Somerset has launched a new outreach programme in Yeovil to support armed forces veterans. The Hub based at the Ark at Egwood near Merriot offers veterans, serving members of the military, family members, dependents and reservists, the chance to socialise and receive help and advice.

    A giant sculpture of the moon can now be seen floating in Bridgwater Docks. Local artist Luke Jerram's 'The Fallen Moon' installation will be there until the 3rd of November. The Moon replica, is three-hundred and fifty thousand times smaller than the real Moon. 

    A Yeovil bakery has won a contract to supply Marks and Spencer with two Christmas products. Percy’s Bakery on Artillery Road on the Lufton Trading Estate already supply M and S with Collection Florentines and will supply the retailer with tins of Caramel and Almonds Muddles and Peppermint Bark for Christmas.
