Doctors in Somerset are urging people to take extra care to look out for children with asthma as temperatures begin to drop. Somerset NHS Foundation Trust says the number of young people admitted to hospital with the condition tends to rise at this time of year.

A local not-for-profit organisation is celebrating after an award of nearly £20,000 in National Lottery funding. Got Your Six UK CIC supports the military community across Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire, with its Wincanton-based community hub offering therapeutic services to serving personnel, veterans, spouses and their families, whilst also being open to the wider local community.

Changes due to a new traffic management system will affect drivers on the A303 this weekend. The road will close between Sparkford and the Podimore Roundabout from 9pm Saturday night through until 6am Sunday morning as part of the Sparkford to Ilchester scheme. When it reopens, there will be one lane open each way on the new carriageways to allow teams to continue their work alongside the traffic safely.

Staff at Leonardo in Yeovil have taken part in the recent ‘Take The Pressure Off’ initiative. We told you about Somerset Council and NHS Somerset’s blood pressure awareness campaign earlier this month – and the helicopter manufacturer took part this week, offering checks for employees, at their Wellbeing Roadshow. 90 of the team now ‘know their numbers’.
