    Work is underway to demolish Glovers Walk in Yeovil. Somerset Council bought the former shopping arcade, which is being removed as part of the town centre's regeneration. This follows work to clear out the insides of the empty shop units that began in February.

    Supporting your local pub is vital, that's the message from pub landlords in Somerset as prices and bills continue to rise. They’re warning that the increase in Employer National Insurance contributions could mean more pubs having to close. It follows news that three pubs in Somerset ceased trading last week, due to increased costs.

    A Yeovil man has appeared in court charged with drink driving for a third time. Terry Buttle of Combe Street Lane pleaded guilty at Yeovil Magistrates Court to driving a vehicle along Preston Road in Yeovil after consuming excess alcohol. He was disqualified from driving for four years.

    Somerset Council has had to pay out £35,000 in compensation to families for failing to deliver the right support to children with special educational needs.

    Another shop in Yeovil town centre is closing today. Clothing store Newlife is closing after five years in the Quedam shopping centre.

    Nominations have opened for this year’s South West Farmer of the Year Awards. Now in its ninth year, the awards give those in the farming community in the South West a chance to be recognised for their hard work. Entries close on July 31st and can be submitted through the South West Farmer Awards website.
