Work building the new amphitheatre in Lower Middle Street in Yeovil won't be finished until late autumn. Plans have been submitted to build sixteen low-cost homes in Somerton. Dunelm has re-opened in Yeovil as a 'click and collect hub' after a fire destroyed its store in the Quedam Centre...and more.

Work building a new amphitheatre in the Triangle in Lower Middle Street, Yeovil, planned to be completed in the summer won't now be finished until late autumn. In a report, Somerset Council says the scheme has been delayed by a dangerous structure at 47 Middle Street. The amphitheatre, which includes a water feature and a large outdoor TV screen, will host open-air events and form a major part of the Yeovil Refresh project.

Plans have been submitted to build sixteen low-cost homes on the site of the former King Ina Church of England School in Estome Terrace, Somerton. Social housing provider, Stonewater, says the homes will be in five blocks, comprising four one-bedroom flats, six two-bedroom houses and six three-bedroom houses. Somerset Council is due to decide on the application by the end of the year.

Dunelm has re-opened in Yeovil as a 'click and collect hub' after the fire that destroyed its store in the Quedam Centre. The hub is located opposite the fire-damaged unit in Ivel Square and is open Monday to Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

An apple farmer from North Perrot says he's stopped selling his produce to supermarkets in order to survive. Jonathan Hoskyns now sells his pressed apple juice to local customers only. He claims more farms will end up out of business unless supermarkets pay more for their produce.

A new Chat Cafe for people to meet and talk is being launched in Crewkerne. Run by the Somerset Open Mental Health Network, the Chat Café will take place at Bilby’s in the town centre, with the opening meeting being held at 3.30 pm next Wednesday, September 18th.

The story of St Andrew’s Church in Ilchester is being told in a new exhibition. The display is open for viewing today until 4 pm at St Andrews Church at Northover.
