Yeovil MP Adam Dance says closing the maternity unit at Yeovil Hospital is a disaster for the town. The birthing and special baby care unit at Yeovil Hospital was closed on Monday due to concerns about safety and staff shortages. Expectant mothers have been told to go to the Royal United Hospital in Bath, County Hospital in Dorchester or Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton to give birth. Speaking during a demonstration against the closure held outside Yeovil Hospital, Mr Dance called on NHS managers to order the immediate re-opening of the maternity unit.
