    Residents in the Langport area are being advised not to drink tap water following a major water leak. Permission has been given to convert the former Porter Blacks building in Lower Middle Street in Yeovil into ten flats.     Residents in the Langport area are being advised not to drink tap water. Wessex Water says following a burst water main, the tap water in postcode areas TA10,11 and 12 may appear brown for the next few days. They say it’s not harmful but advise against drinking water straight from the tap due to it having a strange taste.

    Permission has been given to convert the former Porter Blacks building in Lower Middle Street in Yeovil into ten flats. A change of use application by Somerset Property Ventures Ltd was approved by planning officers at Somerset Council rather than members of the Council’s Planning Committee South. Two applications relating to the property are still to be decided. They are to build an extension above the second floor to deliver an additional seven flats, and to turn the building into a house of multiple occupancy, providing an additional seventeen living spaces.

    Chard is planning an all-day event to mark the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings. Starting at 9 am on Thursday, June 6th a Flag of Peace will be raised over the Guildhall followed by poetry readings in local schools. Chard Museum will stage a display, and there’ll be live music at the Beacon which will be lit at 9.15 pm

    The consumer magazine 'Which' has put Wells at the top of a list of best UK cities to visit. In a survey, England’s smallest city scored an 86 per cent satisfaction rating, beating places like Liverpool and Edinburgh. 

    Yeovil Country Park, also known as Ninesprings, has been presented with the Royal Horticultural Society’s South West in Bloom ‘Pride in Parks’ five-star award for a fourth time. The award was given in recognition of the Park’s community involvement, as well as the standard of the park itself.
