Yeovil Town FC have sent a strongly worded letter to the Football Association asking them to drop plans to end FA Cup replays. They say replayed FA Cup fixtures provide a vital source of income, especially to clubs in the non-leagues like Yeovil, and criticise the FA for not consulting clubs on the plan. Yeovil Town are asking their supporters to also write to the FA on the issue.

Voters in Somerset have been listing their priorities ahead of next week's poll to elect a new police and crime commissioner for Avon and Somerset. The PCC is responsible for holding the Chief Constable and the Avon and Somerset force to account and to make sure that the police are providing a good service. Four candidates are contesting the election for the new PCC.

    • Benet Allen, Liberal Democrats
    • Katy Grant, Green Party
    • Clare Moody, Labour and Co-operative Party
    • Mark Shelford, Conservative Candidate – More Police, Safer Streets.

Voting takes place on Thursday, May 2nd.

A Somerset woman who has spent the last 32 years living with Hepatitis C, says better support is needed for those affected by the contaminated blood scandal. Joan Edgington contracted Hepatitis C following routine surgery in 1991 and has given evidence to the government's inquiry into the infected blood scandal.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of three counts of burglary in Chard. Among the items stolen in the break-ins was a Black BMW that was later found in Exeter. Police say the man has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

A new school of musical theatre has opened in Chard. The Bethany Brown School of Musical Theatre meets weekly at Holyrood Academy and already has twenty-seven children signed up to be taught singing, dancing, and acting by industry professionals.
