Police are continuing to search for a wanted man with links to Somerset. Yeovil MP, Adam Dance, has raised in Parliament the case of missing Chard man, Michael Frison. Police are investigating the theft of lead from the roof of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Wincanton...and more.

Police are continuing to search for a wanted man with links to Somerset. An appeal to find Matthew Grist, aged 34, was launched in early July after he failed to attend a court hearing. Grist is described as white, 6ft tall and of large build. He has short, dark hair, blue eyes and a long beard with a moustache. Avon and Somerset Police say he should not approach him but that anyone who sees him to call 999.

Yeovil MP, Adam Dance, has raised in Parliament the case of missing Chard man, Michael Frison. Michael, who’s 25, has been missing for 3-weeks on the island of Sardinia where he’d been working on a farm. Speaking in the Commons, Mr Dance asked for the Foreign Office to press the Italian authorities to continue searching for Michael and to keep his mother, Cristina, who’s in Sardinia, informed of progress.

A 'soups and shakes' weight loss diet, offered on the NHS and trialled in Somerset, is helping people with Type-2 diabetes go into remission, according to a study, published in the Lancet journal. It found patients lost weight and significantly reduced their blood glucose levels by eating soups and shakes, although some found it difficult to stick to the diet.

Police are investigating the theft of lead from the roof of the Church of St Peter and St Paul in Wincanton. The theft was discovered by churchwarden, Judy Chiplen.

A campaign to pay for repairs to properties in Vicar's Close in Wells – described as Europe’s oldest residential street - has been awarded £4.4 million by the National Lottery. The cash boost will be used to address a backlog of repairs to the iconic 14th-century buildings, which house members of Wells Cathedral’s Vicars’ Choral.

Night flying will take place from the Leonardo airfield in Yeovil tonight until 10.30 pm. Leonardo apologizes in advance for any noise nuisance it may cause to nearby residents.
